Friends

"Friends" it is a Geometric collection of artwork which features mixed media pieces made from a combination of industrial materials such as (epoxy resin, ink, tapes, ball bearings, glass, piano wire, washers, acrylic paint, etc) blended in perfect harmony where the artist reveal his told and untold stories about relationships.

The pieces are  a reflection of the artist background in finance and depict his mathematical side, combined with extreme attention to details. Alves say that when he have thoughts, projects and situations that he need to put in perspective, it is when he work on this geometric collection.  Carlos words: “ The geometric pieces are somehow easy for me to create since everything happens logically in my mind and angles and measurements just flow easily and naturally.  I start this pieces creating the geometric pattern and I abstract adding organic forms and shapes  to break the rigid lines. Most of the pieces on this series are 3D since and the artist create layers of resin and paint within those layers in order to achieve the incredible 3D effect on his creations. Alves also explains: I called  this collection " Friends"  because while I am working on it, I am putting all my thoughts in perspective.  I consider this creation process as if I was having a conversation with a best friend. Nothing however is censored and on this symbiotic creation process, I can lay in there all my wishes, aspirations, frustrations, which becomes a true conversation with myself . I realized after a while that these works were in fact my best friends!
