Carlos is a process-based artist, who specializes in resin work, both in the 2D and 3D formats. Although a self-taught artist, Carlos Alves holds a lengthy list of art awards and a certification of “Resin Master” granted by Gobetto in Milan - Italy, one of the most innovative and important resin factory in Europe. Alves invites the viewers to admire his creations diving into his private and fascinating monochromatic world. A situation propelled by an innate color-blindness, which became his artistic driving-force. Carlos use epoxy resin as one of his main medium to create incredible abstract , geometrics and mixed media artwork. Carlos started his career in 2006 after working at the corporate world his whole life, first as a Financial Director at General Motors - Electro Motive division in Brazil and as a Project Manager for Operations and Technology in Citibank in USA. Since 2006 he participated in more than 150 exhibitions and art residences all over the world and received many awards. Currently Alves it is working on the development of his furniture line, which will have one of a kinda pieces of furniture. Midcentury Furniture it is one of Alves’s passion. As part of his furniture line, Alves it is using original Midcentury pieces of furniture and transforming each piece in an exquisite work of art. He also gives resin workshops at his art studio in Pompano Beach - FL.
